Dear reader,
The morning is cool, but my coffee is warm. The sun rises bright behind the fence line. I am taking baby steps towards a new venture and I want to invite you to the brainstorm board.
The goal: to serve writers and creatives through embodied practices. To make the ugly feelings of dread, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome feel at home to express themselves. To reawaken our creative life force. All within community.
My imagined offerings are three-fold:
An online library of yoga and meditation classes designed for creative spirits
1:1 Writing Coaching
The Creative Common Room - online community space for creative accountability
I’ve still yet to figure out the configuration and launch timeline for each of these services. I’m peppering their imagining between teaching seven yoga classes at three different studios a week, planning a wedding, and working for my dad’s business. Hello to overwhelm, my consistent teacher. Slow down, it says. Where can you simplify?
When I ask my body how she feels about these changes, I receive a soft bloom in the chest. Hope. I receive a mad scientist frenzy in the brain - excitement. I also receive a tight grip on my throat - fear.
The questions continue - how do I make a life that supports my writing practice? That encourages embodied presence? That centers on my values? Fear speaks in what-ifs — what if it’s not possible?
To practice quieting my brain and dropping into the present moment, I’ve been anchoring myself with the senses.

Smell of vanilla and cinnamon, atole de arroz on stove. Rain hitting earth. Overcast darkness, lit by lamps. Soft sound of soccer on TV - announcers, crowd chanting. Paws padding against wood floors. Warmth of coffee moving down throat and into belly. Dull headache. Deep gratitude. Gust of wind, pushing and pulling low branches of sugar hackberry. Dry eyes. Breath deepening to fill belly. Stomach whirling with paradox parts peace and anxiety.
If you slow down, reader, and drop into your body can you feel the whole splendor of the present moment?
What does your body have to say?
Until next time,
A

I felt too "busy" to open a bunch of emails but this title arrested me and I'm so glad I read it. Feel a lot better for having stepped into your world.
